Your Role.
As R&D Scientist for Quantum Memories, you will lead the development of AQLS's quantum memory technology, working at the interface of fundamental research and deployable hardware for the quantum internet.
Key Responsibilities.
- Develop and characterize quantum memory technology for photonic applications.
- Drive the R&D roadmap for next-generation memory hardware.
- Collaborate closely with the hardware engineering team on integration.
- Contribute to IP generation, patents, and scientific publications.
Your Profile.
Required:
- PhD (or near completion) in Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
- Hands-on research experience with quantum memories or related AMO/quantum-optics systems.
- Experience with single-photon sources and detection.
- Strong record of experimental rigor and documentation.
- Fluent English (required)
Nice to have:
- Publications in quantum memory or quantum communication research.
- Experience transitioning lab research toward applied/deployable systems.
- Familiarity with entanglement-based quantum communication.
- Experience with alkali vapor cell quantum memories.
- Experience with modulation via EOM and AOM (electro-optic / acousto-optic modulators).
- German language skills (a plus)
What We Offer.
- Work at the forefront of real-world quantum networking and help shape Europe's quantum infrastructure.
- An international, interdisciplinary environment spanning photonics, quantum physics, and systems engineering.
- Flat hierarchies, fast decision cycles, and direct impact on product development.
- Opportunities to publish, file patents, and collaborate with leading European research partners.
